Fuel Price Report 3/30/2021
Put it in reverse, Terry! The average price of diesel fuel in the United States DECREASED this week from last week. That’s right, the average cost of diesel fuel dropped by $.033 per gallon.
This marks not only the first decrease in fuel cost under the Biden Administration but also the first time since Election Day 21 weeks ago that the average national cost of diesel fuel decreased from the previous week according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
This week’s numbers also closed out Q1 of 2021. Let’s take a look at what happened over the past 3 months.
The national average diesel fuel cost in Q1 was $2.913 per gallon and the average movement per week was +$.040 per gallon. The most expensive fuel in Q1 was pumped in California at $3.680 per gallon and the cheapest fuel was pumped in the Gulf Coast region at $2.710 per gallon. Today’s diesel fuel cost is also up $0.575 per gallon from this time in 2020.
The verdict is still out on whether fuel prices will continue to climb or level out, but it is a good sign that prices have remained stable for two weeks in a row.
